Law 13-172, the "Fiscal Year 2001 Budget Support Act of 2000," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 13-679, which was referred to the Committee of the Whole. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on May 18, 2000, and June 6, 2000, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on June 26, 2000, it was assigned Act No. 13-375 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 13-172 became effective on October 19, 2000.

Law 13-252, the "Interim Disability Assistance Amendment Act of 2001", was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 13-550, which was referred to the Committee on Human Services. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on November 8, 2000, and December 5, 2000, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on December 21, 2000, it was assigned Act No. 13-539 and transmitted to Both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 13-252 became effective on April 3, 2001.

Miscellaneous Notes

Application of Law 12-60: Section 2002 of D.C. Law 12-60 provided that the act shall apply as of October 1, 1997.

Section 4202 of D.C. Law 13-172 provides:

"Definitions.

"(1) 'Director' means the Director of the District of Columbia Department of Human Services.

"(2) 'TANF' means Temporary Assistance to Needy Families."
