It is the purpose of this chapter to create a Boxing and Wrestling Commission for the District of Columbia with the authority to promulgate rules and regulations, to promote the District of Columbia as a location for boxing, wrestling and martial arts events, and to regulate boxing and wrestling within its jurisdiction.

The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on June 3, 1975, and June 17, 1975, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on July 11, 1975, it was assigned Act No. 1-31 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review.

Law 1-50, the "District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission Act-- Amendment of 1976," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 1-168, which was referred to the Committee on Government Operations. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on October 21, 1975 and November 4, 1975, respectively.
