Temporary Amendments of Section

Temporary amendment of section: Section 2 of D.C. Law 12-197 added (c).

Section 5(b) of D.C. Law 12-197 provides that the act shall expire after 225 days of its having taken effect.

Sections 2 to 18 of D.C. Laws 13-110 added the Sex Offender Temporary Act of 1999, designated as sections 24-1121 to 24-1137 [1981 Ed.].

Section 219(b) of D.C. Laws 13-110 provides:

This act shall expire on the 225th day of its having taken effect or upon the effective date of the Sex Offender Registration Act of 1999, whichever occurs first.

Law 12-197, the "Sex Offender Registration Risk Assessment Clarification and Convention Center Marketing Service Contracts Temporary Amendment Act of 1998," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 12-699. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on July 7, 1998, and September 22, 1998, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on October 8, 1998, it was assigned Act No. 12-474 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 12- 197 became effective on March 26, 1999.

Law 12-270, the "Sex Offender Registration Risk Assessment Clarification Amendment Act of 1998," was introduced in Council and assigned Bill No. 12-700, which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. The Bill was adopted on first and second readings on December 1, 1998, and December 15, 1998, respectively. Signed by the Mayor on December 24, 1998, it was assigned Act No. 12-586 and transmitted to both Houses of Congress for its review. D.C. Law 12-270 became effective on April 27, 1999.
